THE COMMUNITY OF OUR SAVIOUR
WHO ARE WE?
The Community of Our Saviour is a dispersed Anglican-Catholic religious order of brothers and sisters following a modified Rule of St. Benedict influenced by the Franciscan way of life.
Membership is open to any person 18 years old and older who is an active member of any Anglican jurisdiction with valid Apostolic Succession. Membership requires that each brother or sister complete a training course of some two and a half years before becoming a professed member. This consists of an initial Postulancy of some six months followed by a Novitiate of approximately two years. Annual Profession Vows are made for some five years after which one may take vows of Life Profession.
Communities of members may be formed where there are two or more in a reasonable geographic area. Individual members may be attached to the nearest community for oversight.
Following the rule, “Lex Orendi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi” we believe how we worship is how we believe and how we believe is how we live. We are Anglican-Catholics. We believe in the Real Presence of Christ in his Body and Blood at the altar. We believe in the centrality of the Holy Eucharist (Mass) in our worship. We are Credal. In other words we are not a “confessional” religious order but follow the Nicaean, Athanasian and Apostle’s Creeds rather than using the 39 Articles of Faith as a Confession or as a requirement for membership.
